Yes Virginia it does snow in Florida

As some of you may or may not know it has been down right freezing here in Florida. I guess its fate punishing me for all of those phone calls I have made in the past rubbing in the warmth we are having.
We have had lows in the 20's for over a week now but the end is in sight and the 70's will be back by Friday!!! I can't wait, being cold is for the North where people actually have clothing to protect themselves from the icy blast that is always seeping in every crack of this old house.

Heidi loves the snow

Hannah made the largest snowball

Abby has wanted to see snow for so long she was the most excited about it.

Here is the snowman they made. How do you like the Hibiscus flower hat? I bet you wish you could get accessories like this in Utah.

We set up a hose to spray out water during one night. I remember my Grandpa Durtschi use to do this up in Midway Utah. It would make the most amazing scultures I had ever seen. He would keep the water running all winter and the sculture would be huge. Poor Will he was not happy about leaving the water on all night, I decided that seeing how we were going to be spending a small fortune on the heating bill what would a few extra bucks?

Well my experiment did not make anything too giant in fact the water did not spray just how we wanted it to but the end result was still a lot of fun. Josh and I spent a lot of time out in the yard taking photos, he has a wonderful eye for photography. I will try and get some of his photos down loaded for you to see.

This is a construction code of Josh's on top he placed the blade guard to a fan. It turned out really cool.

Our poor grass all entombed in ice. WHahahahah

The water was facing this palm tree but the wind blew it mostly away but seeing icicles on a palm tree is pretty cool.

You may have heard about the hot seat well this is not it.

This is a palm frond that was on the ground.

Stalagmites in the yard. These were about 6 inches tall.

X marks the spot lets dig!!

Ice lace.

Icicles on the icicle lights.(Josh took this one) I had this one on my camera. Sorry you will have to wait until I get the card out of his camera to get more photos.

Well there you have it snow and ice in Florida. I did not like it being cold but it was wonderful to be able to drag out the winter coat, hat and gloves. The last time there was measurable snow in Florida was 1977.

Oh by the way I love how Blogger has changed the way they do the photos it is so much simpler now. Thank you Blogger
